Can chai/coffee make you gain weight?

"A cup of coffee or tea can keep the conversation going" -What's one thing that you need while talking to anybody?

If your answer was another person then you're right too *wink wink* but another thing that mostly we humans miss are drinks that are mostly tea or coffee. Tea and coffee have also been commercialised these days and there are a gazillion types of them available as per your choice.

"Going for long drives or want to stay up late? Have tea or coffee." -Tea and coffee are as important as spectacles to people. As many people want them right away as they wake up while some have them with breakfast. Both tea and coffee are popular among students for staying up late in exams or for people going for drives on long routes. Despite their popularity, some people are worried about if tea or coffee can increase their weight. "Tea fills your stomach fast and is low on calories" -Tea infact, does not make you gain weight but what it matters what you add to it. If we compare it with a can of cola. It has ten spoonfuls of sugar so adding just one spoon of sugar to your tea cannot be bad. Instead drinking tea without honey or sugar can actually make you lose weight as you're filling your stomach taking in less calories. Similar is the reason why green tea helps in weight loss. "Coffee increases metabolism and reduces appetite" -Coffee, one of our other favorite drinks, is not only low on calories but also has caffeine which is known to improve metabolism and reduce appetite thus making us consume lesser calories. Also sprinkling cinnamon or adding dark chocolate for flavour to the coffee as a substitute for sugar is helpful keeping the coffee low calorie. So, the conclusion is coffee and tea aren't adding calories to your diet unless you have them loaded with too much sugar.
