It's okay to (say no, slow down, take time for self care etc)

"We often overlook ourselves and agree to

what us being forced upon us."- How about a plan for movie tonight? You better say yes cause you it's all planned. We're going for a trip next month and you are coming along for sure. Can you stay a lil bit till later and just do some extra work at the office. You've to sign up for this course with me, we're gonna have fun together. These are some of the situationseveryone of us face everyday where we struggle to say "no" even though we're overbooked. "Saying "no" when we want to can be good for mental health and promote self esteem."- Even though "no" is a small word, still using that at some crucial times is not something that we all do. We feel that if say "no" to someone they might get hurt, feel angry or make us appear unkind or rude. Now even if we say "yes" for something we actually don't wish to do we'll not be in it completely. A simple "no" can establish boundaries, promote self-esteem, can be better for our mental health and also make us focus our energy at the right places that we actually want to. "Slowing down can actually make us more productive and make lofe a lot more enjoyable."- Now since we are in a situation of "yes", that mean opinions of other is of some matter to us, which also makes us follow and align with societal rules and having a hush hush life and doing what is acceptable and pleasing to the society. When we're not rushing from one thing to another, life can be a lot more pleasing. Taking deep breaths, going outside for walk, actually listening to someone talking instead of being busy in your mind, practicing gratitude and *the you've been waiting for* taking time off phone can promote mindfulness and productivity. "Self care can help us manage stress, increase energy and lower risk of illness." Once you slow down and enjoy life, ypu start realising how important self care is. Self care is often confused where we take time to do our chores or clear tasks off our to do list which is not the actual meaning of self care. Self care is just setting time for yourself alone and spend time with our thoughts thus helping us to practice self awareness and self reflection. Try having a solo lunch, a exercise routine it will be a great practice to recharge your batteries before stepping into the rush mode again. Planning ahead for challenges along wigh considering what stresses us more makes it easy to work our way. Scheduling time for focusing on the needs and devising self care strategies can be of great help. Taking care of yourself doesn't mean me first, It means me too. -L.R. Knost.
